Hi Jim, Of course, there are many YA books that have dark themes, because many young adults and children live dark lives. I can’t help but notice you left this inquiry on the list of books about some of these dark issues — sexual assault, dating violence, and rape in YA fiction — and disparage the fiction that deals with these issues.   This book analyses the growth of sectarian-based terrorist violence in Pakistan, one of the Muslim majority states most affected by sectarian violence, ever since it was established in Sectarian violence among Muslims has emerged as a major global security problem in recent : Eamon Murphy.

The book goes through all the ways the US military managed to evade allegations of torture within the army so it is a very good antidote to a myopic approach on memos, water-boarding and the CIA. It also shows something that we all know, which is that torture has a slippery slope and once you authorise it, or even create the atmosphere to.   The publication of Francis Wade’s book Myanmar’s Enemy Within: Buddhist Violence and the Making of a Muslim ‘Other’ is, therefore, very timely. The author, a former journalist with the Democratic Voice of Burma, a television and broadcasting station that until recently was based in exile, takes the reader on a tour across the country.

Queering Sexual Violence: Radical Voices from Within the Anti-Violence Movement is multi-gendered, multi-racial and complex anthology that lifts up the voices of queer & transgender survivors. Home Buy the Book.   The line we are talking about here, I believe, is the one between having violence in your book (movie, what-have-you) in order to be true to your characters, setting, and story, and having so much graphic description of the violence that the reader feels traumatized in some degree by it. Or eventually becomes numb to it.
